Fatality in Divisoria mall shooting identified

Police say suspects wore face masks when they carried out the attack

Authorities have identified the fatality  in the shooting incident in a mall in Divisoria, Manila on Saturday.

Manila Police District spokesperson Erwin Margarejo said Edilberto Pornobi, 60, sustained three gunshot wounds in the head and the body in the attack that took place at 999 Mall.

He said Pornobi was an owner of several stalls inside the establishment.

Based on initial investigation, Margarejo said the two suspects were wearing face masks when they shot at Pornobi on the second floor of the mall.

Pornobi’s companion was also injured in the incident.

The identities of the suspects, who immediately fled, and the motive for the shooting are still being determined by the police.

Three bullet shells from a .45 cal. pistol were recovered from the crime scene.

The incident prompted authorities to implement a lockdown on the mall, as shoppers scampered to safety.

The doors to the mall were opened around 4 p.m.
