Duterte visits wake of slain policemen who were part of FDA convoy ambushed by NPA

(Eagle News) — President Rodrigo Duterte visited the wake of police officers killed in the Oct. 18 ambush on a convoy of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) chief Nela Charade Puno, where he personally expressed his sympathies and condolences to their family members.

The President arrived at the Camarines Sur Police Provincial Office on Tuesday, Oct. 23, to visit the wake of PO1 Ralph Jason Vida, one of the three policemen who died during an ambush by the NPA last Thursday in Lupi, Camarines Sur.

He also met with the spouses of PO3 Carlito Navarozza and SPO1 Percival Rafael who died during the said incident. The President conferred the Order of Lapu-Lapu with the Rank of Kalasag on the three policemen.

Such honor is given to uniformed personnel who lost their lives while performing their duties. Apart from this, the Chief Executive also provided financial assistance, scholarship, and employment to the families of the deceased.

The ambush on the FDA director general Puno along the national highway of Brgy. Napolidan, Lupi, Camarines Sur also wounded five other police officers.

The injured policemen also received the Order of Lapu-Lapu with the Rank of Kampilan from President Duterte.
