Duterte: Trillanes’ mother engaged in business with PHL Navy even when the now-senator, his father were still in naval service

(Eagle News) — President Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday, Sept. 11, lashed out at Senator Antonio Trillanes IV, saying it was his family who engaged in businesses with the Navy even when he and his father were in the naval service.

“Ang problema kay Trillanes is he is crucifying (Special Assistant to the President) Bong Go for entering into business with government. But there was a time in the Navy’s history, ang tatay (ni Trillanes) nasa serbisyo pa, siya (Trillanes) nasa serbisyo pa, sundalo na. Nanay niya katransact ng ekonomiya (ng Navy). Tanungin niyo ang Navy,” he said, apparently referring to Trillanes’ move to probe the alleged business deals of Go’s father and half-brother with the government.

Duterte also noted that Trillanes had “many houses,” but “sikreto lang.”

“Di makaintay. ‘Yung iba, kapitan pa lang, suddenly may big house, sa subdivision, three big houses,” Duterte said.

According to Duterte,  if “this was the kind of leader” people wanted, then they should “go to Trillanes.”

He urged Trillanes’ group to “show the people they knew better.”

“Trillanes, simpasimpatiya ka dyan, e ang iniisip niya sarili niya,” Duterte said.

He also noted the “nine times” Trillanes went to China during then-President Benigno Aquino III’s administration.

“On his last visit, we lost the Scarborough Shoal kinabukasan,” he said.
