Duterte to Palawan officials, residents: Do not repeat Boracay’s mistakes

(Eagle News)—–President Rodrigo Duterte on Saturday, Nov. 11, urged Palawan officials and residents to be wary of the number of tourists visiting the island, and to not allow hotels to be built near the easement.

“Wag ninyong i-overload. Bantay kayo diyan,” he said.

He also required hotels to put up their own water treatment facility to ensure that their waste does not go straight to the waters.

“Do not allow ‘yung mga hotels near sa easement. Ipa-layo mo. Sabihin mo talagang ‘doon kayo sa malayo,” he added.

The President made the comment after he ordered the closure of Boracay for six months for its rehabilitation.

This was after the President called the island a “cesspool.”

The island was opened to tourists last month.
