Duterte to De Lima: “Go ahead, impeach me.”

(Eagle News) — President Rodrigo Duterte challenged Senator Leila De Lima to file impeachment charges against him after his speech defending policemen allegedly involved in the death of Albuera, Leyte Mayor Rolando Espinosa Sr.

“They can go ahead. Bakit pa mas maraming daldal? Sige na, impeach na,” the President said.

Duterte in a speech expressed that he would still support policemen who risk their lives in the line of duty and will not allow them to be imprisoned.

After President Duterte’s remarks, Senator De lima dubbed Duterte as a “murderer” and father of all extra-judicial killings.  She also alleged that Duterte had ordered Espinosa’s murder.

However, the executive chief said that he was not troubled by threats and accusations.

“I have to satisfy their lust for whatever. Let them be. Impeachable? Go ahead,” Duterte said.

Meanwhile, Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Salvador Panelo said that Duterte’s pronouncement defending cops is not an impeachable offense.
