Duterte: Teddy Boy Locsin is next DFA secretary

(Eagle News)–President Rodrigo Duterte has confirmed he offered the post of Foreign Affairs secretary to Teddy Boy Locsin.

The President, who returned on Thursday night from Indonesia, was at first hesitant to reveal who would replace Alan Peter Cayetano at the helm of the DFA, but was told by Special Assistant to the President Bong Go that it was alright to do so.

Locsin, currently the Philippines representative to the United Nations, appeared to have confirmed accepting the post.

In a Twitter post, Locsin said: “I was asked I said yes; but love UN, the may friends & intellectual companions I made. But I didn’t say no when asked as I didn’t when he told me I was UN ambassador. If my Tito Chito Ayala trusted him implicitly; how can I not. Still UN work is like sharpening a blade everyday.”

“I will be Secretary of Foreign Affairs which includes the UN; I will have a direct hand until the architecture of sovereign independence in all matters of state that my team started to erect is remitted. Talent that doesn’t exist outside DFA will complete it.”

Cayetano has confirmed he would run as representative of Taguig-Pateros in the House of Representatives.
