(Eagle News)–President Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday, Dec. 18, said it was Mar Roxas who ordered former police general Vicente Loot killed.

“I did not order the ambush. It was Roxas. Roxas ordered his ambush, not me,” Duterte said in Visayan.

On May 18, unidentified men opened fire at Loot and his family who had just arrived in a wharf in Daanbantayan, Cebu, where the former general is mayor.

They survived the attack.

President Duterte has accused Loot of having drug links.

Apart from Loot, Duterte accused Roxas’ former aide former Deputy Director General Marcelo Garbo Jr., former National Capital Region Police Office director Chief Superintendent Joel Pagdilao, former Quezon City Police District Office director Chief Supt. Edgardo Tinio, former Western Visayas police Chief Supt. Bernardo Diaz of as having links to illegal drugs.

According to Duterte, Roxas ordered the hit because he was told the policeman was engaged in illegal drug activities.

“He said, ‘Patayin na lang ninyo para hindi tayo mapahiya’,” Duterte quoted Roxas as saying.

The Palace has yet to issue a statement on Duterte’s latest comment, but Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo told Inquirer.net it was merely a “joke.”
