Duterte says he may send a senator or Cayetano to Jordan to “fix” situation of undocumented Filipinos

(Eagle News)—–President Rodrigo Duterte said he may send a senator or Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano to Jordan to “fix” the situation of undocumented Overseas Filipino Workers there.

Duterte made the announcement on Thursday, Sept. 6, after his meeting with Jordan’s King Abdullah II during his official visit to the Kingdom.

“Kaya matagal kami nag-usap about you…kayong lahat.  Pag-usapan lang is ‘yung undocumented dito…Wala kayong dapat taguan,” he said.

Duterte appeared to express optimism for the plight of the undocumented Filipinos there, noting that King Abdullah II was a “man of his word.”

He also lauded Jordan’s treatment of OFWs in general.

Thank you for “being kind to my people,” he said.

Duterte arrived in the Philippines on Saturday, Sept. 8, after cutting short by a day his visit to Jordan.

The Palace said this was because all the President’s engagements in the Kingdom had already been attended to.
