Duterte pushes for creation of “refugee centers”

Lauds officials in Isabela, where there was zero casualty due to “Ompong,” for job well done

(Eagle News) — President Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday, Sept. 18, pushed for the creation of refugee centers, following the onslaught of Typhoon “Ompong” over the weekend.

“Let us talk about money needed to set up refugee (centers) and all,” Duterte told officials in Isabela, whom he also commended for a job “well done.”

Although one of the hardest-hit provinces, Presidential Political Adviser Francis Tolentino said there were no casualties due to “Ompong” in Isabela.

Tolentino said there were also no casualties in Quirino and Aurora.

According to Duterte, there was a need for the refugee centers as “you have to sanitize everything.”

“Otherwise, you place people there in jeopardy,” he said.
