(Eagle News) — President Rodrigo Duterte confirmed on Thursday that Malaysian terrorist, Dr. Mahmud Ahmad, has been killed.

“Tatlo ‘yan, Hapilon, Omar, at iyong doc. I think he’s a… (Malaysian). He was taken this afternoon. And that completes the story,” Duterte said.

He was referring to Isnilon Hapilon and Omar Maute, who were taken out in government operations on Monday.

The Armed Forces of the Philippines later confirmed the President was referring to Ahmad when he said “doc.”

Ahmad is the alleged financier of the terrorists.

Retaliatory attacks

In his speech, the President also warned against what he said were retaliatory attacks by terrorists following the deaths of their leaders.

The President said that the only question to ask was “when” and “where” these attacks would take place.

Maute and the Abu Sayyaf joined forces to overrun Marawi in May in a bid to establish a caliphate for the international terrorist group Islamic State.

On Tuesday, President Duterte declared Marawi free from the clutches of the terrorists.

Authorities said this would pave the way for the rehabilitation of the city.
