Duterte honors those wounded in Basilan blast

(Eagle News)—President Rodrigo Duterte on Saturday, Aug. 5, visited those who were wounded in an explosion at a checkpoint in Basilan on July 31.

The President conferred the Order of Lapu-Lapu on six Scout Rangers, and on the three members of the Citizen Armed Force Geographical Unit who were injured in the blast that killed at least 11 people.

They were also given financial assistance and cellphones, among others.

Authorities are still investigating the blast which took place after the military received information the Abu Sayyaf would deploy an improvised explosive device in the area.
