(Eagle News) — Armed Forces of the Philippines chief General Rey Leonardo Guerrero is the next administrator of the Maritime Industry Authority.

President Rodrigo Duterte himself made the announcement in a speech in Camp General Manuel T. Yan Sr. in Mawab, Compostela Valley.

“Iyang si Jagger pagkatapos niyan, siya iyong maghawak ng MARINA na pinaalis ko kay sige travel,” Duterte said.

Guerrero would replace Marcial Amaro III, whom Duterte sacked over excessive foreign trips.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said Amaro made at least 24 trips since he was appointed in 2016.

Guerrero was supposed to retire on December 17, 2017 but his term was extended.
