(Eagle News) — The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) reminded employers to follow the rules regarding proper payment of salaries of employees who report for work on both regular holidays, Independence Day on June 12 and Eid’l Fitr on June 15.
Acting Labor Secretary Ciriaco Lagunzad III released Labor Advisory No. 9 on Friday prescribing the pay rules for the said holidays pursuant to Proclamation Nos. 269 and 514 issued by President Rodrigo Duterte on July 17, 2017, and June 6 this year, respectively.
The advisory stated that employees who do not work shall be paid full salary for those days while workers who report for duty shall be paid twice the amount of their regular salary for the first eight hours.
Meanwhile, for overtime work, employees shall be paid an additional 30 percent of their hourly rate.
If a regular holiday falls on the employees’ rest day, they shall be paid an additional 30 percent of their daily rate of 200 percent. Overtime work done during this day shall also be paid an additional 30 percent of their hourly rate.
