Dela Rosa shoots down Alejano’s claim of a “pattern” in PNP drug ops; says congressman, a Navy officer, “doesn’t know”

What do you know? You’re a Navy officer, not a policeman.

Philippine National Police Chief Ronald dela Rosa had this to say to Magdalo Rep. Gary Alejano, who said there was a “pattern” in the conduct of drug operations by the police.

Alejano said the killings took place at night, and a cal. 38 is usually retrieved from the suspect.

“Congressman Alejano, I’m very sorry to tell you na hindi mo alam yung pattern dahil you are a Navy officer, hindi ka pulis,” Dela Rosa, who was a guest at the Philippine Military Academy’s alumni homecoming in Baguio on Saturday, said.

He said if Alejano were a policeman, he would know that drug transactions take place at night.

“Sa umaga, lahat ng mga adik at pusher tulog iyan. Kapag gabi medyo madilim na, dahan dahan yan gigising at diyan na nagtratransact ng transaction sa gabi kaya karamihan sa buy-bust operations nangyayari sa gabi,” he said.

As for Alejano’s second claim, Dela Rosa said a 38 cal. was the easiest to come by in the black market.

“If you are a criminal, gusto mo ba gumamit ng baril na may lisensiya na may serial number  na matrace sa iyo o sa kaninomang tao na madadamay sa ginawa mong krimen? So it will go back to…gagamit ka ng unlicensed firearm na 38 (cal.),” he said.
