Police Chief Ronald dela Rosa revealed on Thursday that his son faced deficiencies in some of his subjects in the Philippine National Police Academy.

According to Dela Rosa, Rock, who is in his first year at the PNPA, fell short in two subjects, including communication.

He said his son needed to take a removal exam in that subject to determine if he passes or fails.

“Nandun ako kahapon (sa PNPA 39th commencement exercises). Sabi ko magreview ka. Nobody can take care of your future, kung magfefail ka,” he said.

He said even then, taking removals was “normal” in the PNPA.

In fact, he said when he was a student, he had to take the exam in Math.

“Iba ang pressure sa civilian university, iba ang pressure sa police academy. Ibang iba talaga, kaya I understand perfectly his situation,” he said.

He said what he could do for his son was to “give him advice..”

He said if he fails and gets dismissed, then “sorry, uwi ka sa Davao at maghanap ng trabaho sa Davao,” noting that Rock has already finished a college degree.

“You’re my son. Kahit anong mangyari sa buhay mo, anak kita. Tatanggapin kita pagbalik mo. Kung hindi mo kaya, ayaw kong isakripisyo mo ang buhay mo diyan,” the PNP chief said.
