De Lima says there is no need to oust Duterte; “God will take care of it,” she says

(Eagle News) — For Senator Leila de Lima, there was no need to oust President Rodrigo Duterte from office.

According to her, “God will take care of it.”

“Mr. Duterte, it’s your filthy and vicious mouth that destroys you,” she said.

De Lima made the statement after Duterte accused Senator Antonio Trillanes IV, Communist rebels and other members of the opposition of planning to oust him by October.

Duterte had said he had proof of this in the form of taped conversations provided by a foreign country.

He said he had ordered these declassified, and would release them in due time.

But according to De Lima, this was not the first time Duterte “accused opposition figures of allegedly plotting to oust him from his post,” proof, she said, of his “paranoia and insecurity.”

She said last year, the President accused her, Trillanes and Vice President Leni Robredo of the same.

“With his administration’s lack of governance, gross incompetence and corruption.. Duterte “will fall, and fall hard. That’s for sure,” De Lima, who was described in her statement as the “first prominent political prisoner under the Duterte regime,” said.

De Lima is detained in Camp Crame on drug charges.
