De Lima: Napoles “will sing anything she is asked to”

(Eagle News)—Janet Lim Napoles will “sing anything she is asked to.”

Senator Leila de Lima made the statement on Saturday, a day after the Department of Justice confirmed the alleged pork barrel scam queen had been provisionally admitted to the Witness Protection Program.

The senator said this was why she did not “seriously consider” Napoles as state witness when she was justice secretary  during the time of then-President Benigno Aquino III.

De Lima, who is now detained  in Camp Crame as she faces her drug cases, noted that Napoles’ first asked them then who they wanted to implicate in the P10-billion scam.

“It became clear to us then that just like any thief Napoles will say anything to get herself off the hook,” she said.

According to De Lima, in the case of a “crooked administration,” though, Napoles was the “ideal witness” as she could be used against its “critics and vocal dissenters.”

“Napoles will parrot anything, just like the Bilibid drug inmates used by (President Rodrigo) Duterte and (Justice Secretary Vitaliano) Aguirre against me,” she said.

The DOJ said Napoles was placed under provisional coverage of the WPP effective February.

It said this was after she executed an affidavit containing more details about the scam.

The DOJ said it was assessing the affidavit so it could be determined if Napoles could be granted full coverage.

Napoles has asked the Sandiganbayan for a transfer to the DOJ from Camp Bagong Diwa in light of the development.
