Criminal raps to be filed vs Trece Martires, Cavite mayor over vice mayor’s killing

(Eagle News) — Criminal charges are slated to be filed against the Trece Martires, Cavite mayor in connection with the killing of his vice mayor in July.

The two counts of murder and frustrated murder will be filed against Melandro de Sagun over his alleged role in the death of Alexander Lubigan on July 7.

Also charged were Maragondon Cavite Councilor Lawrence Arca, Luis Vasquez Abad Jr., Ariel Fletchetro Paiton, Rhonel Bersamina, and several John and Jane Does.

Lubigan was on board a black Toyota Hilux when gunmen on board a black Montero fired at his vehicle.

His driver, Romulo Guillemer, was also killed.

The police earlier said Lubigan was killed after he revealed he was running for mayor in the 2019 elections.
