(Eagle News) — The House of Representatives issued a “show cause order” against Senator Leila De Lima and is set to serve this with the Senate today, Tuesday, November 29.

House members have agreed to just ask the Senate to “discipline” one of its members for interfering in the House hearing by preventing her former bodyguard and lover, Ronnie Dayan, from testifying last October.

Lawmakers agreed not to issue an arrest warrant anymore against De Lima if ever she would disregard the show cause order that Congress had issued.

Instead, they would lodge their complaint against the lady senator with the Senate ethics committee chaired by Senate Majority Leader Vicente “Tito” Sotto III.

Earlier, House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez threatened to have Senator De Lima arrested if she would not answer the show cause order and continue to snub the House inquiry into the illegal drug trade at the national penitentiary.

De Lima said she would not honor the order and would not appear at the House inquiry, calling it a “kangaroo court.”
