COMELEC to implement election gun ban on April 14

QUEZON CITY, Philippines (Eagle News) — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) will implement an election gun ban starting April 14 for the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections.

According to Philippine National Police spokesperson Chief Supt. John Bulalacao, permits to carry firearms are cancelled during the campaign period from April 14 to May 21.

During this period, only police, soldiers and security guards on duty are allowed to carry firearms.

Under Comelec Resolution No. 10247, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) together with the National Police Commission (Napolcom) and other law enforcement agencies are deputized to assist the Comelec in enforcing the said prohibitions.
