Classes suspended in Metro Manila, several areas in Luzon because of tropical storm Salome

(Eagle News) – Because of rains from tropical depression Salome, local government units in Metro Manila and surrounding provinces suspended classes in all levels today, Friday, Nov. 10.

Both public and private schools are covered by the class suspensions in the following areas:

Metro Manila:
• Caloocan City (all levels)
• Las Piñas City (all levels)
• Malabon (all levels)
• Mandaluyong (all levels)
• Manila (all levels)
• Marikina City (all levels)
• Muntinlupa (all levels)
• Navotas (all levels)
• Parañaque (all levels)
• Pasay (all levels)
• Pateros (all levels)
• Quezon City (all levels)
• San Juan (all levels)
• Taguig (all levels)
• Valenzuela (all levels)

In Makati and Pasig, the classes are only suspended from pre-school to high school.
In the provinces, class suspensions in all levels were declared in the following areas:

• Calapan, Oriental Mindoro
• Batangas Province
• Morong, Rizal
• Quezon Province
• Laguna
• Cavite Province
• Camarines Sur
• Buenavista, Marinduque
• Angono, Rizal
• Antipolo, Rizal
• Binangonan, Rizal
• Cainta, Rizal
• Jalajala, Rizal
• Morong, Rizal
• Rodriguez, Rizal
• Tanay, Rizal
• Taytay, Rizal

Only pre-school to high school classes, however, were suspended in San Mateo, Rizal.

Tropical storm Salome has maintained its strength and is now off the coast of Zambales, Bataan, according to PAGASA.

As of 4 a.m. today, the center of Tropical Storm “SALOME” was estimated based on all available data including Subic doppler radar at 55 km Southwest of Subic, Zambales (14.5 °N, 119.9 °E).

It has maximum sustained winds of 65 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 100 kph.

Storm warning signal number two is up over Bataan and Southern Zambales, while public storm warning signal number one is up over Metro Manila, Bulacan, Pampanga, Cavite, Batangas, rest of Zambales and northern Occidental Mindoro.
