China to donate Php 90 million for victims of super typhoon

QUEZON City, Philippines – China will donate a total of P90 million for victims of supertyphoon “Lawin” (international name Haima).  China initially committed Php 35 million (or RMB 5 million) for the Philippines’ anti-disaster efforts, according to the Chinese embassy.

An additional Php 50 million was also sent to the Philippine government  to aid farmers and fishermen in the affected areas. On the other hand, the Chinese Red Cross Society promised to donate $100, 000-worth of humanitarian aid to the country.  With this, the over-all amount of aid from the Chinese side is about P90 million, the embassy said.
