(Eagle News) — The approval and trust ratings of Supreme Court Chief Justice Ma. Lourdes Sereno have gone down, based on the latest survey conducted by Pulse Asia.
According to the poll done from Sept. 24 to 30 via face-to-face interviews of 1200 adults, Sereno’s approval rating was at 35 percent, a 13 percent drop from the rating she got in June.
The decline in her approval marks cuts across all geographical areas–from 45% in June to 35% this September in the National Capital Region; from 47% in June to 31% this September in the rest of Luzon; from 44% in June to 39% in September in the Visayas; and from 55% in June to 37% in September in Mindanao—, and across all socioeconomic classes—from 55% in June to 39% in September among members of the ABC classes; from 48% to 34% among members of Class D; and from 45% to 35% among members of Class E.
The Chief Justice’s trust rating also experienced a double-digit drop–from the 43% in June, to 31% this September.
The decline in her trust marks can also be seen across all geographical areas–from 42% in June to 33% in September in NCR; from 42 percent in June to 27% in September in Balance Luzon; from 38% in June to 37% in September in the Visayas; and from 50% in June to 31% in September in Mindanao.
The double-digit drops also apply across socioeconomic classes–from 44% in June to 33% in September among members of Classes ABC; from 43% in June to 30% in September among members of Class D; and from 41% in June to 30% in September among members of Class E.
The poll was conducted after separate impeachment complaints were filed against Sereno by lawyer Larry Gadon, and by the Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption, and the Vanguard of the Philippine Constitution.
The House justice panel found the VACC’s and Vanguard’s complaint insufficient in form, and Gadon’s complaint sufficient in form and substance also before the survey was conducted.
The survey has a margin of error of +-3%.
