CGMA denies involvement in charges vs De Lima

QUEZON City, Philippines – The camp of Pampanga Representative Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo said that the former president was not involved in the preparation of charges against Senator Leila De Lima, particularly her alleged involvement in the illegal drug trade in the New Bilibid Prison.

This is in response to De Lima’s accusation that CGMA was aiding the Duterte administration in bringing about her downfall.

The House minority bloc led by minority leader Rep. Danilo Suarez earlier said they were recommending the filing of charges against De Lima for graft, bribery and violation of the Code of Conduct and Ethical Practices for Public Officials and of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.

Suarez said the House Justice Committee erred in not exacting accountability from De Lima for her involvement in the illegal drug operations at the NBP, based on the testimonies of witnesses presented in the House hearing.

The minority bloc wrote a dissenting opinion to the House justice committee’s report on De Lima.
