3.1-magnitude quake hits Surigao del Sur

(Eagle News)–A 3.1-magnitude earthquake struck Surigao del Sur early Sunday, April 21. The quake, which was of tectonic origin, hit 30 kilometers northeast of Cortes at 2:42 a.m. The depth of focus of the quake was 31 kilometers. No damage to property nor aftershocks was recorded.

3.4-magnitude quake hits Eastern Samar

(Eagle News)–A 3.4-magnitude earthquake hit Eastern Samar on Saturday, April 20. The quake, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said, struck 36 kilometers southeast of San Julian at 6:49 p.m. The depth of focus of the quake, which was of tectonic origin, was 19 kilometers. No damage to property nor aftershocks was recorded.

(Eagle News)–A 3.5-magnitude earthquake struck Davao Oriental on Friday, April 19. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake hit 20 kilometers southwest of Governor Generoso at 3:08 p.m. The quake, which was of tectonic origin, had a depth of focus of 158 kilometers. No damage to property nor aftershocks were expected.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake hit 41 kilometers northwest of Laoang at 2:07 a.m. The depth of focus of the quake, which was of tectonic origin, was 4 kilometers. 3.9-magnitude quake hits Cagayan

(Eagle News)—A 3.9-magnitude earthquake struck Cagayan on Wednesday, April 17. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake hit 51 kilometers southwest of Calayan at 10:18 a.m. The depth of focus of the quake, which was of tectonic origin, was 11 kilometers. No damage nor aftershocks were expected.    

Block of “cocaine” found off Batanes waters

(Eagle News)—A block of cocaine was found floating off Basco, Batanes on Tuesday, police said. Authorities said the cocaine was found by a fisherman off the Naidi Light House at 3:15 p.m. In an interview over GMA 7’s dzbb, Batanes Provincial Police director Colonel Merwin Quarteros said the cocaine was wrapped in  layers of plastic. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake hit 41 kilometers southeast of Cagwait at 1:10 a.m. The quake, which was of tectonic origin, had a depth of focus of 25 kilometers. No damage to property nor aftershocks were recorded, PHIVOLCS said.
