BIR starts lifestyle checks on employees

QUEZON City, Philippines – The Bureau of Internal Revenue started conducting lifestyle checks on its employees. BIR Commissioner Caesar Dulay said that the lifestyle check aims to identify BIR employees who are abusing their position. Aiding the BIR are the Land Registration Authority (LRA), Land Transportation Office (LTO) and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).

Abra placed under red alert status

QUEZON City, Philippines – The National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC) reported that 119 families were evacuated in Abra and Cagayan due to the storm “Carina”. Romina Marasigan, NDRRMC spokesperson added that the families are doing well. Samar also conducted a preemptive evacuation, with those affected returning to their homes after the storm passed.

Kabul hotel attack ends after three Taliban fighters killed: police
