The buko vendor who was seen being beaten up by three members of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority during a clearing operation last week has been arrested.

Elements of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group nabbed Romnick Relos and his two brothers, Roy and Dondon, after they found the siblings were actually facing cases for a 2007 murder in Masbate.

Roy and Dondon admitted they were trying to elude authorities who had filed the cases against them in the province.

Although someone died, they said what happened was merely self defense.

They said Romnick only tried to stop the ensuing fight then.

“OK na rin po ito, para harapin namin ang kaso,” Romnick said, when asked if he regretted appearing on national television following the incident in Pasay with the MMDA personnel.

He said he would still pursue the charges against the members of the Sidewalk Clearing Operations Group, who beat him up near the EDSA-Evangelista footbridge last week.

The act was caught on video that eventually went viral.

The Relos brothers are now detained in the CIDG headquarters in Camp Crame, and are set to undergo a booking procedure.
