BI to deport 21 Russians, Koreans for overstaying, other offenses

(Eagle News)– The Bureau of Immigration has ordered the deportation of 19 Russian nationals and the two Koreans who allegedly recruited and employed them as “guest relations officers” in a club in Pampanga.

BI Commissioner Jaime Morente said that the 19 Russians who were arrested in a raid  at Club Angel in Clark Field, Angeles City, worked without the necessary employment visas, charging P1500 per hour for their services.

BI intelligence officer Jude Hinolan said  that of the 19 Russians who arrived in the country as tourists, nine were also already overstaying in the country.

According to Morente, Jeong Seonghun, 30, and Lee Kyurak, 30, who allegedly recruited the women and who were arrested during the raid, were also overstaying, having arrived in the country as tourists.

They worked as the club’s cashier and manager, respectively.

“We have recommended that charges for violating the anti-trafficking persons in act be filed against the two Koreans as they were the ones who supposedly facilitated the entry of these women into the country,” Hinolan said.

The 21 foreigners are now detained at the BI detention center in Camp Bagong Diwa.
