(Eagle News) — Before he left for Indonesia, President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday, October 10, visited the wake of five Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) agents who were killed in an ambush in Lanao del Sur.

The President personally condoled with the family of the fallen PDEA agents and assured that justice will be served.

The five PDEA agents who were ambushed were identified as IA 1 Vencio Ardepolla, IO 1 Laurice Joy Amar, IO 1 Diobel Pacinio, IO 1 Kenneth Capuno, and IO 1 Kristine Mae Torlao.

They were ambushed in Kapai, Lanao del Sur on Friday, October 05, by unidentified gunmen after a dialogue with former illegal drug dependents in the Municipal Hall of Barangay Kianibong, Togoloan

President Duterte also awarded the Order of Lapu-Lapu with the Rank of Kalasag to the victims’ family representatives, and also extended financial, burial, and employment assistance when he visited Camp Siongco where the remains of the drug enforcement officers lie.

Meanwhile, PDEA agent IA 1 Rachel Ann Tan Gentapanan and NUP Normina Dicay survived the incident but sustained gunshot wounds.

PDEA Director General Aaron Aquino also paid his respects to the families of the PDEA agents and condemned the “cowardly act” against the drug enforcement officers. (with a PND report)
