Avengers actor Patrick Macnee dies at the age of 93

JUNE 26 (Reuters) — British actor Patrick Macnee who starred in the 1960s TV series The Avengers has died at the age of 93, his family said on Thursday (June 25).

A statement on the website http://www.patrickmacnee.com/ quoting the actor’s son Rupert said Macnee died of natural causes at his home in Rancho Mirage, California, with his family at his bedside.

Macnee played the part of Jon Steed in the British spy series alongside actresses Diana Rigg, Joanna Lumley and Honor Blackman.

The show ran from 1961 and 1969 and continues to be broadcast around the world.

Following the end of The Avengers, Macnee appeared in several other television series.

He is survived by a son and a daughter, as well as a grandson, according to Variety, which confirmed his death.
