Alejano: I don’t need to go to Israel to prove the President is healthy

(Eagle News)–Magdalo Rep. Gary Alejano on Tuesday, Aug. 28, said he did not need to go to Israel to prove the chief executive was healthy.

Alejano made the statement in response to a statement by Special Assistant to the President Bong Go that he do the same following the congressman’s remark the President would go to Israel for health reasons.

Duterte denied this, saying he only wanted to visit the Overseas Filipino Workers there in September.

According to Alejano, the President  “can always have the medical checkup done here in the country say in St. Lukes [Medical Center] or in Cardinal Santos [Medical Center] where the President regularly has his checkup.”

“In this way, we can put to rest this issue because the health of the President has severe implications to national security and the public has the right to know,” he said, noting that the checkup should be done in front of stakeholders, and its results disclosed.

He said he “want(s) the President to be healthy with a sound mind and body for the sake of our country.”

The country, he said, needs “a President who can assure the people in times of disasters and calamities, provide leadership and direction when there is chaos, provide solutions when faced with serious problems.”

“A sick and incapacitated president will lead the country to perdition,” he added.
