Albayalde sacks Northern Samar cops following alleged NPA raid of municipal police station

(Eagle News)–Philippine National Police Chief Oscar Albayalde sacked all the policemen from the Lapinig Town Police Station in Northern Samar after their station was reportedly raided by at least a hundred members of the New People’s Army on Friday, Aug. 10.

The sacked officials included Lapinig’s chief of police Inspector Noli Montebon;  Senior Supt. Romeo Campomanes, Northern Samar provincial director; and Chief Insp. Juan Byron Leogo, commander of the 2nd Northern Samar Provincial Mobile Force Company.

After a deliberation in Camp Crame, also sacked was Chief Supt. Mariel Magaway, director of Police Regional Office 8.

Senior Supt. Benigno Durana, spokesperson of the PNP, said he was replaced by Chief Supt. Dionard Carlos, former PNP spokesperson.

The rebel allegedly took off with computer, gadgets, cash, among others.

Earlier, a press release from PRO8 said they had prevented the group of rebels from laying siege to the Lapinig municipal hall.

The government has suspended peace talks with the Communist rebels, and has opted for “localized peace talks.”
