Albayalde reiterates arrest of Vicente Ladlad not due to his Communist links

(Eagle News)–Philippine National Police Chief Oscar Albayalde on Sunday, Nov. 10, reiterated the arrest of National Democratic Front of the Philippines consultant Vicente Ladlad was due to his illegal possession of firearms.

“The confiscation of high-powered firearms and explosives in the possession of Ladlad and two others is a result of a lawful search made by the police witnessed and certified by officials of the Homeowners Association,” Albayalde said.

Albayalde made the comment following the left’s demands Ladlad’s arrest was in violation of the Joint Agreement on Safety and Immunity Guarantees for those involved in the peace process.

Last year, however, President Rodrigo Duterte terminated the peace process.

Peace Secretary Jesus Dureza said the JASIG no longer applied as a result.

Earlier, the police said Ladlad was arrested not because of his links to the Communists.
