Philippine National Police Chief Oscar Albayalde on Monday, July 2, said the police were looking at the possibility the killing of Tanauan, Batangas Mayor Antonio Halili had something to do with his implementation of a “walk of shame campaign” in the city.

Albayalde made the statement as he announced the creation of a Special Investigation Task Group that will look into the killing during the city’s flag-raising ceremony early in the day.

The police have said it was possible a sniper shot Halili, who died on the way to the hospital.

The task force will be headed by Chief Supt. Edward Caranza, director of PNP-Calabarzon.

“Marami napahiya sa walk of shame niya. Isa yun,” Albayalde said.

Halili was also included in President Rodrigo Duterte’s list of officials allegedly engaged in the illegal drug trade.

In fact, in November 2017, the Department of the Interior and Local Government stripped him of his police power.
