(Eagle News) — The airport official who was earlier tagged in corruption in the Bureau of Customs has resigned from his post.

In a statement, the Manila International Airport Authority said Allen Capuyan, its assistant general manager for security and emergency services, stepped down from his post effective March 12, 2018.

According to MIAA, Capuyan said in his letter addressed to MIAA general manager Ed Monreal that his resignation was a “career move.”

The MIAA said Capuyan would be replaced in by Arnulfo Junio, MIAA manager for intelligence and access control.

Capuyan filed a leave of absence in August last year, after self-confessed fixer Mark Taguba said in a Senate hearing on the P6.4-billion shabu shipment mess that he and a certain “Noel” led a group that facilitated the entry of shipments in the country in exchange for money.

Taguba said it was Capuyan–also called “Big Brother”—who  sent him an e-mail containing tariff codes that would give him access to the Bureau of Customs green lane, where there was minimal inspection.

Capuyan had said he needed the leave of absence so he could clear his name.
