AFP: 22 soldiers wounded in clash between military, Abu Sayyaf members in Sulu

(Eagle News) — An Abu Sayyaf member was killed and 22 soldiers were wounded in a clash between the military and alleged members of the kidnap-for-ransom group in Sulu on Thursday, Aug. 23, the Armed Forces of the Philippines said.

Killed in the firefight in  Patikul, Barangay Langhub at 9:30 a.m. was Alpata Abdurasa.

The AFP said more could have been killed or wounded from the enemy side, composed more or less of 40 people, headed by sub-leader Idang Susukan and Ben Tatoo.

On the part of the 41st Infantry Battalion, the AFP said 17 were slightly wounded by M203 shrapnel, three by gunshot wounds and two were by a recoil-less rifle back blast.
