9 injured in stampede in Valencia City, Bukidnon

STAMPEDE

At least nine individuals were reported injured, with three of them brought to the hospital, following a stampede in Valencia City gymnasium in Bukidnon.

In her report in Agila Probinsya, Eagle News Correspondent Christine Balaquit said the stampede happened during the distribution of cash assistance for those under the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) of the government.

The accident occurred around 10:40 Wednesday morning, December 17.  The stampede started when some people mistook a lunch box in the area for a bomb, causing panic.

The nine injured were:

  1. Marjorie Flores, 23 years old
  2. Helen Sumlingo, 43 years old
  3. Hazel Joy Delima, 11 years old
  4. Lila Tipson, 52 years old
  5. Alma Arante, 42 years old
  6. Luzmelyn Amosa, 35 years old
  7. Minda Son, 42 years old
  8. Erlinda Cabillon, 60 years old
  9. Lyn Dayon

Authorities in Valencia City continue to investigate the matter.
