3 people, including two teenagers, killed in separate motorcycle accidents in Zamboanga

(Eagle News) — Three people, including two teenagers, were killed in two highway accidents, involving motorcycles, on December 24 in Zamboanga peninsula region, according to police.

The Police Regional Office 9 (PRO-9) identified the fatalities as Jonathan Timbawas, 17; Marvin Gandamon, 16; and Robert Reyes, 45.

Chief Insp. Helen Galvez, PRO-9 information officer, said Timbawas, 17, was driving a motorcycle with the 16-year old Gandamon as his back-passenger, when they collided head on with a utility vehicle driven by Mark Anthony Embores, 30, around 9 p.m. Monday.

The teenager was driving the motorcycle along the national highway in Purok Santan, Barangay Locuban, Dumalinao, Zamboanga Del Sur.

Galvez said Timbawas went on the opposite lane as they drove on a descending curved road while traveling to Pagadian City. Both he and his companion Gandamon was declared dead on arrival in a private hospital in Pagadian City where they were rushed.

The driver of the utility vehicle, Embores, on the other hand, did not suffer any injuries.

In a separate incident, another fatality, Reyes, was driving a motorcycle also when he accidentally hit a 10-wheeler cargo truck around 4:35 a.m. in Barangay Curuan, Zamboanga city.

He was declared dead on arrival at the Cristino Paragas Memorial Hospital in Barangay Quiniput.
